September 2011 - Formal approval to proceed with KFS implementation was granted by the campus based on the implementation plan and budget developed by the KFS Core Team. This will allow replacement of UCI's antiquated financial systems with modern online tools. View Benefits of KFS.
March 2011 - Staff from Accounting and the Office of Information Technology were assigned to the KFS Core Team. They were asked to assess the feasibility of a new functional system and to create a budget and implementation plan.
In January 2009, UC Irvine‘s Office of Research, Administrative & Business Services, and Office of Information Technology partnered to work on implementing the Kuali Coeus Research Administration System (proposal, budget development and submission), which will streamline and convert the current paper-based grant proposal submission process at UCI.
In July 2006 UC Irvine, along with other UC campuses, joined the Kuali Foundation as a Kuali Financial System partner. The Foundation manages a growing portfolio of enterprise software applications for colleges and universities, such as Kuali Financial System (KFS), Kuali Coeus (KC), and Kuali Student (KS).
"Kuali" is a Malaysian word which refers to a small wok. A wok is a versatile cooking tool; although it is used primarily for stir-frying, it can also be used for steaming, deep frying, braising, stewing, smoking, or making soup.
